I spoke this morning with the surgeon who did her endoscopy (as part of a
visit originally scheduled to talk about my upcoming colonoscopy) --
apparently her condition is very stable, there's no sign of infection, and
her creatinine level has actually improved. (I have some doubts about her
kidney functionm however.) And we found out later in the day that the
biopsies came back as "benign", so at least we don't have to worry about
cancer.
On the other hand, she's been in the hospital for a week, being fed
intravenously, unable to eat anything except popsicles and sips of water,
and bored out of her mind.
We were originally expecting that she would be transfered to one of the UW
hospitals later this week, but in fact she will be going to Swedish First
Hill in Seattle, sometime this (4/07) evening. As usual in situations
like that, she sent me home before the transport arrangements were
finalized. Probably so that she could freak out without bothering me.
Not for the first time.
The plan is for me to drive down to Seattle and stay with N and her
family, which would save me a lot of driving. I tend to feel as though N,
like Colleen, worries too much about me, but driving back home with the
sun in my eyes isn't really my idea of fun, so she has a point.
