Black Friday

Happy Black Friday! For those of you that aren't CMU CS students, at the end of each semester the entire faculty of the CS department gets together and evaluates every graduate student, to make sure that we're making satisfactory progress etc. This is called Black Friday, and was today. While the faculty were off discussing us, we (as per tradition) had a full day party in the grad lounge. There was breakfast, lunch, and beer in the afternoon. Lots of fun. The usual suspects were there, but there were also a lot of people that I hadn't seen in a while, like Kami, Benoit, Serge, and other assorted people. It was a very odd feeling to be drinking at 12:30 in the afternoon in the CS department, but I guess it's ok since we only do it once a semester. Although Dan was talking about storing beer in the Doherty fridge and playing quarters in the common area :-).

So after a long day of socializing (and unfortunately not getting any work done, although I had some interesting discussions about hitting metrics with Don and Maverick) I'm off to socialize some more. Dan's having a party at his house up in Squirrel Hill, which should be fun. Dan's house is amazing, and he knows a ton of people so hopefully there will be a lot of people there. And we've been talking about playing drinking games ever since we finished the type systems final, so maybe that will finally happen. Fun fun.
