Where do your words come from?
From my stomach and my heart with a swing past my head.
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up on a wheat and sheep farm in country Western Australia. It was a glorious childhood. These days I live in Brisbane which I arrived at via ten years in Paraburdoo and two years on North Stradbroke Island.
What’s the first sentence/line of your latest work?
Wait…please wait… Retra closed her eyes and flung herself the last distance, ignoring the crippling pain in her thigh.
What piece of writing do you wish you had written?
I wish I’d written the Firefly TV screen plays. I’ve always had this cow-punk story in me and when I first saw Firefly all I could say think is ‘damn you Joss Whedon, I was gonna do that!’
What are you currently working towards?
Being a better writer and reaching more readers.
