*claps*

A lot more fair plays in the Germany vs England round this morning that just ended. Germany won 4-1, though in all fairness, it should have been 4-2 since England bounced one off the top of the post that bounced into the goal, up into the air, onto the line, and the goalkeeper recovered it.
It looked like a goal (apparently, there was controversy as Germany had a similar type of "goal" years back), but wasn't counted.

Either way, it was enjoyable to watch. There were barely any yellow cards given out, and barely any fouls, at that! Nobody rolling on the ground or exaggerating injury to try and give their team a free kick...now that is soccer. What the England and Germany teams did in today's game was true soccer.
Nice saves from the German goalkeeper, and thumbs up to the German team for not running down the clock when they had an obvious pass to the quarterfinals.

Germany could have done what Ghana did in the last 5-10 minutes...they could have just kept passing it around and wasting time...but they kept going after the ball, and even kept attacking the England goal right down to the final whistle.

England gets props, too, for not completely giving up and still trying to make attempts on the German goal. Even down 4-1, they took shot after shot at the goal. None went in, but it was a brave attempt since it would have been easy for the players to lose heart like most people in the stands did.

I thought USA's defense was horrid...England's was even worse when it came to counter attacks, which was where Germany piled up some goals; on the counter.

Still, that was a great game to watch. Fair game, nice passes, nice feints and break-throughs from both teams...I clapped at the end, because that was soccer.
It might be an agonizing defeat for England, but that was one of the best matches I've watched in the entire World Cup so far in terms of fair play.
