And people wonder why I hate driving...

Today was practically all work. Even my outdoor time, I was working. Though, I made a game out of picking up all the sticks on the front yard for pickup. Got a nice beaver-dam of a pile by the curb, now. And it only took an hour...using my imagination to do it was fun.
^__^
...even though it was like...85 degrees F out. Still fun.
...except that dad didn't thank me. I mean, I'm not doing it for money or anything. Just a simple "thank you" will do for picking up all the sticks in the yard.

Had about an hour of TV before that, then lunch, then went outside after about 30 mins on the comptuer......
Anyways...
...when I came in, I took care of some chores (dishes, floor, washes), then snack, then started to work on sorting through the stuff I had in boxes I'd taken out of my closet.
Did that up till dinner time. Well, around 7pm.
At least dad noticed I did the floors...I only had to wait about 45 mins after he came home this time before he thanked me. Then again, I'm just glad he said something at all.

Anyways...

After I ate, I thought back to my failure of independance from yesterday, and asked Mike if I could borrow the car to practice driving since I still had about 30 mins before it got dark.
I adjusted the seat, the mirrors, put the seatbelt on...and pulled out. I surprised myself that I remembered as much as I did. Of course, I went a little slower than normal due to all the piles of twigs and branches...and some people that parked on the street instead of in their driveways or garages.
Things were going well, so I decided to try a 'circuit' around the neighborhood. That's where I end up going in a circle, basically, and it only takes about 2 mins or so. There's a longer route, too, but I stuck with the short one since this was the first time I got back behind the wheel in...6 months? Maybe 5? Dunno.

It went fairly well...I can still perform a flawless K-turn (a talent learned from getting lost so many times on the way to job interviews in the past), got a good test for my reaction time when I had to stop short cause a squirrel ran right out in front of me...I thought I wasn't gonna stop in time and hit the poor little guy. That was close.
As I did the circuit, I went once...then again to fix a couple wide turns I'd made. Then, I went a third time to smooth it over and make sure I got the hang of it. Well, on the third time, it was a little different.
First, I had to take a turn wide cause some dolt parked so close to the turn area and was going to their jeep. Next, I had to wait for a car to go by on the street before making a turn...meanwhile, I got that jerk's jeep behind me. I went up the hill at a decent pace...noticed the jeep as I kept a steady mph around 20 (there were folks walking around and twigs/branch piles on the ground...plus, it's a residential zone. Speed limit for those is 25...except for town houses. It's usually 15 for those).
I slow down to stop at the stoplight, and this asshole is on my bumper. Then, when I stopped to look both ways, the jerk honks his horn at me.
I was like...yea, sure, you can wait, pal. I'm look'n both ways, first.
Made the turn...dude's still riding my bumper. Then, I put my turn signal on as the street I need to make a left on approaches.
Guess what Mr. Asshole did.
Yep. The damn asshole actually went around me on the left side, right before I was about to make the turn.
RIGHT BEFORE.
Seriously, I was just about to cut the wheel to turn. If I hadn't been cautious about the asshole riding my bumper for the 5-10 seconds he was behind me, and didn't look before I turned, there would have been an accident.
I wish I'd stopped to get the guy's license plate number and call it in for reckless driving. I mean, I've been on the road and seen some reckless and stupid people (like the gas truck that cut me off when there was nobody behind me), but that was one of the dumbest things I'd ever seen.

Bad enough the people taking evening walks prolly thought I was some kinda stalker, constantly driving around and around...then there was that jackass...
Dunno who gave him his license, but he shouldn't have gotten it.
I remember it was the jeep that I had to move practically into the opposing lane to avoid when I was coming off the turn cause the guy and his wife (?) were going to get in it, and were standing in the middle of the damn road. And when their jeep was parked on the side of the street, and they were taking up the middle...that left about the length of two people standing side by side for passing.
Hence why I ended up half in the opposing lane.
I didn't realize that had been the asshole behind me until just a few moments ago, when I sat down to write this, actually.

Idiot getting to his car, and an even bigger idiot on the road. The guy must have been absent when they were handing out common sense in school. Seriously...it seems like the amount of crazy/stupid drivers are increasing. That's just......well, someone once told me that humans were evolving in terms of their minds. But with this rash of crazyness, from fighting to reckless drivers, I'm really beginning to wonder if that's true.

Haha...maybe we're evolving backwards in terms of humanity, but moving forwards in terms of science.
...actually, that's not funny at all.
