Who: Edward Nigma
What: Mutant murder mystery
When: Morning
Where: Gotham City
Interactions: Raven, Open
Warnings: Brief description of murder scene

Edward did not need to question the witnesses to know the crime scene was a fake. He knelt by the body of a young, male mutant, examining the bloody welts across the victim's face, arms, and chest. There were more on the back and along the legs, though these were not as prominent. The victim's mutation was obvious, his skin black and ridged, the color and texture reminding Edward of coal. It also felt very hard, in which case the blows which had killed him must have been severe...

Requires more force than the average- human- adult male can-

The weapons are supposedly surrounding the body- sloppy work, really- but I find it hard to believe that baseball bat could have withstood the force necessary to harm the vi-

The blood splatters are all wrong, I'm sure- what's it doing on that wall? Am I supposed to believe he was shot? No bullet wound, no-

The victim's family, those who had found the body, were calling it a hate crime and blaming a local, vocal, anti-mutant group. Several members of this group were in the GCPD, or relatives or officers. The situation was highly... political... and thus very public. Edward Nigma was not a man to turn down free publicity, and since the family was understandably reluctant to trust the police with this investigation...

Wait, was the victim burned? Hard to tell with his skin-

The more I look, the more I think this is a cover-up for-

“Mr. Nigma?” That was the wife. She was a pretty little thing, despite her pale blue skin and abstract swirls of darker blue, like a salamander. Her eyes were large and dark, although for now she kept them squinted, as if the light hurt her eyes. She held herself tightly, defensively...

She's afraid of something-

Her brother was poised nearby, his posture loose and aggressive, careless roll of his shoulders emphasizing the concentration of muscle in his chest and arms.

“Mr. Nigma, can you find the ones responsible for this?”

Edward looked at her seriously.

This isn't where he died-

I don't think this is how he died, either-

“Yes. I can,” he answered truthfully. “Tell me, did your husband's mutation extend past his appearance? That is to say, did he have any special abilities?” And can I solve this before it explodes into another human v. mutant mess?
