What's with the huge number of messenger bags all the undergrads are carrying around these days? Once in a while I can understand the purpose. I've got one, and I prefer the way it sits to a backpack when I'm biking... which is kinda its purpose. But when kids that obviously don't bike have them, it just seems kinda silly. They're not that comfortable for just walking around. Especially big ones like mine. I suppose its just a fashion thing. Style over substance and all that.

But really, the 5 foot nothing wisp of a girl in the white wool peacoat and Uggs walks past toating a huge army green Chrome bag, I just don't get it. Its not even a Timbuk2 bag... at least those are designed to be used as something other than a messenger bag. But Chromes can really only be carried in the manner that you'd wear them when riding a bike. Hence its marketing specifically to hardcore bikers in bike shops pretty much exclusively.

*shrug* Whatever they like, I suppose. It just seems silly.
