Hi all, just checking in on things before heading to bed. After much headache, I've got both our desktop computers connected to the Internet again, this time without using my extra computer as a router (couldn't, the dumb thing won't power up). Debian Linux really is highly configurable, but it takes some time and elbow grease to get things sorted out.
As is probably expected, the Geni-O-Meter is registering "slightly moody and achey but stable". The first HGC blood test was drawn yesterday, and the second one, to quantitatively confirm a reliable increase, will hopefully be drawn Monday.
Random musings .... Some of you might know that my dad's name isn't West but Hopkins ... I learned quite recently that the Hopkins family tree has been traced back to the late 17th century in County Antrim, Ireland. While I was pretty sure Grandma West's family (Varney) was of Irish descent, this is the first I've heard of Irish descent on the other side. I found the following family crest page after a quick search on Google, but I'm really not sure if it's really connected to me in any way.

So I got curious and looked for other sources. Wingfamily.org lists the following as the crest of the Wing family in America:
