Lessons from Mendoza

Well, here are some things I learned about my trip to Mendoza:

- Mendocino guys are extremely territorial with their ladies, as soon as they see you talking to their girl the come up and grab them by the waist, hand or whatever.. jeez!!, I wasn’t even hitting on them or anything!.

-  Also, single Mendocino girls are on the hunt for guys who are different from the rest, and being helped by their mothers, aunts, grandmothers and other female relatives :-P… I was offered to go out with like three or four girls, by relatives but I refused, as I currently have a girlfriend. it felt kind of awkward, but flattering, as it means that they in me a guy with good attributes LOL *wink*…

- Siesta time is the rule in Mendoza… I totally hate it!!!, they close almost everything from 1 to 4 or 5!!!!... also Sundays most things are closed ALL day!!!

- Finding a taxi around siesta time is a nightmare of unbelievable proportions!! :-(

- This city is wine party heaven… even the cheaper wines are good enough to drink, most of them are really good, and there are more varieties of wine than one can imagine. Also, you can find a wide variety of delicious cheeses, cold meats (such as their famous cured ham), and excellent olive oil, sun dried tomatoes and chocolates.. the only thing that they don’t have and goes very well with wine is strawberries..  oh well, you can’t have everything, can you??

- Learned how to do a proper wine tasting, and a few interesting facts about wine and olive oil.

- The Bidet are one of the most intelligent human inventions ever, I don’t know why we don’t use it widely in the US, I am going to order one over the internet as soon as I get to DC. (if you don’t know what a bidet is, search it in Wikipedia :-P).

- Small town life is not my cup of tea, I liked Mendoza a lot, but I couldn’t stay in there anymore, I was already getting restless.

-   There is such a thing as too much beef for me. I though I would never say that but after having beef almost everyday for like two meals a day I decided that enough is enough :-P.

- Simple weddings are the best, as they show more clearly the essence of what marriage should be (in my view): the union of two people who love each other and truly mean to keep it permanent and work through the issues that might come along the way.

- I have found a new hobby: photographing street dogs. Unfortunately there are none of those where I live, BUT I will do quite a bit of traveling during this year, and I’ll have plenty of opportunities to photograph dirty mutts wherever I go. Besides, if I had them nearby it would take out the thrill of getting their pictures :-P

- Finding a shot glass to buy in this city is the hardest thing ever.. I looked everywhere for one and after searching like crazy, I finally got it… yay!! One more for my collection.

- The food is of great quality, but the variety leaves much to be desired… there is only on Chinese restaurant in town, and only one low-budget Peruvian one!!! Unbelievable!!, maybe setting up a different kind of restaurant over there might be a good business.

- Argentinean rock is cool!, pity that many artists are not heard outside of the country.

- Wait times during flight connections are a great opportunity to write long LJ entries :-P.

Can’t recall anything else right now, but probably will after I rest a bit. This is a work in progress :-).
