Hee! No, I think the "Betas" category is supposed to be for "beta-reader wanted" or "offering beta services" ads; though some people post fics there as well.

Most of AFF.net is a beta nightmare, true. I'd be generous and estimate that perhaps 1,000 of those 12,000 works have passable spelling and grammar.

Terrific place for summaries, though. :D

Why is Hermione getting so much unusual lovin'? Rodolphus? Barty?

And what is Lists? Do they mean lists of fic, like thematical lists or favourites, or what?

Lists: things like "Fifty ways to annoy Snape" and so on.

AFF.net had a Hermione-category explosion a few months ago. I don't know why.

And then there's listfic, like, "Five boys Harry Potter never snogged," and then little vignettes detailing either what didn't happen, or how it came to not happen.
