Hello TripleA, it's Thanksgiving night and our car broke down. 8|

Very exciting day....

My sister and I were working on our fandom writing projects all morning (they are so boss and we are so proud), when we got to my Aunt's house we watched Pixar movies and waited for the food to be done, we ate and had an awesome meal (dudes I never knew I liked squash), made sundaes (WIF HOT FUDGE OMNOM~), napped, then left early to beat the rush home.

And then our car broke down.
Two hours away from home, and an hour away from where we left.
Right in front of a highway exit.
Our car broke down.
This is not just any old car breakdown. Our beloved eleven-year-old, 200,000+ miles minivan has been essentially tolling the death knell for the past three months. Odd noises, wheel spurts, door freezes. (Teenagers at the wheel practicing for onroads...)
And now, we're not quite sure what went wrong, but it seems to be the transmission going bust, and it is entirely possible that we may now need a new car.
Parents estimate that we'll still need a minivan for at least another five years, given the current ages and activities of their offspring. And they were so excited about the growing balance in the bank, too...
It's all a bit ironic, given that on the ride in this morning we were just talking about getting a car for my sisters and I to use. I doubt we can get TWO new cars, dammit.

We had to pull over into the breakdown lane, of course. RIGHT ON THE SHOULDER RRGH so stressful. Not forty minutes in, trying to figure the whole damn thing out, a nice state trooper stopped by and offered to call a tower for us. We took her up on it. The tower showed up in record time, which just goes to show that if a cop says that she can get a quicker response than you, you better damn well believe it. My Dad went with the tower, and my sisters and Mom and I crammed in with the cop. When we got towed to the auto shop, the guys there took pity on us and drove us to a nearby Dunkin Donuts (which goes to show that not only are people totally boss right when you need them, but that hot chocolate and bagels really do make everything better).
Then we had a frenzy of rescuing our belongings from the car, nomming, and calling everyone we knew for rides and/or someone to take our dog out before she up and crapped out the house. Our Auntie with whom we'd been visiting came and got us (in her friend's van, no less; we're such a damn big group!) and my best friend was willing to come help our poor dog.
SO THAT WAS COOL.
And also it was exciting as fuck and I AM SO GODDAMN TIRED NOW WHOA.

(Also unrelated I am addicted to Mahou Sensei Negima and Pokemon Emerald; way to be late on the fandom train, self!)

oh gods why, moodlet: happy, new fandom, moodlet: sigh, things that piss me off, livejournal, moodlet: awkward, slices of life, just a touch of melodrama
