Ugh...
It's hot in here. My air conditioner compressor broke this morning, so it's really freakin' uncomfortable in my apartment. It only got up to about 82 today, but it got up to over 90 in my apartment and it's still 88 now, even though it's been dark for a couple hours. My apartment has a window facing west, so from about 2 PM until the sun goes down, my living room is essentially a giant greenhouse if the air isn't working. I've been sitting in front of the fan since I got home, but it's not really helping. (Doesn't help that there is absolutely no breeze outside, so opening the windows doesn't do much good.) My landlord expects it to be fixed by Friday, thankfully. Until then, yuck!
My grandpa's surgery went pretty well. They had to take more of his foot than they expected. He basically lost the front half of it, including all 5 toes. But otherwise, it went well. Problem now is, he's come down with a mild case of pneumonia. It's not serious...as long as he sticks to the normal treatment. Of course, he's a grizzled old war veteran who can't be told what to do. So the doctors don't know what the hell they're talking about, and he's fine and ready to go home...yep. Maybe if he gets a little sicker, he'll figure out that these people are professionals who do know what they're doing, and he's not invincible anymore. I guess time will tell.
In a bit of good news, my old buddies Nathan and Ange are coming down this weekend for a visit...and hopefully they'll be moving back to Evansville soon. I look forward to it. I miss 'em. :)
Otherwise, life is just fine. Everything's great with Amanda, been hanging out and having a lot of fun with my favorite dork Jen lately, and hockey season is right around the corner. I can't complain.
I think now I'm gonna go take a cold shower and try to cool off. Best wishes to everyone along the Gulf Coast...good luck dealing with Ivan!
