Firefly type AU?

John is a "companion" and Rodney is in high class society but doesn't really fit in. John pushes the limits of what he knows is professional the more he learns and likes about Rodney.

An offworld mission goes FUBAR, scattering the Team in various directions. Some circumstances align, leading Rodney to believe that John has been transformed into a fluffy animal (maybe a baby hare, maybe a space squirrel, maybe a porcupine). Rodney tearfully carries the fluffy animal around with him, swearing to bunny!John that he'll figure out some way to reverse the transformation. He gets Ronon and Teyla into it -- despite initial disbelief, they all believe that John has been transformed by Ancient voodoo into a bunny -- until Shep shows up (to laugh at them).

The image of Rodney taking care of fluffy-not-really-John is adorable, but the embarrassment makes me shudder. Though I'm sure John will make whatever ridicule he dishes out worth Rodney's while.

Terrible-Waiter!John would be perfect for annoying customer Rodney. And I have to post with this icon, though I suppose a lightning storm isn't dark... And I have a very old outline for a story called "Personal Magnetism"...

Oh, I just had another idea: AU, Rodney is some kind of royal or something, John is a rebel space pirate (along with Ronon and Teyla). John is a wanted outlaw on the run on Rodney's planet -- cornered and with no discernible escape, John takes Rodney hostage so he can make his escape. What he doesn't realize is that Rodney is completely willing to be taken hostage and before John knows it, Rodney's running all over him, nattering about optimizing John's junk bucket ship and how to properly make demands.
