For Challenge #39
Title: Kinds of Quiet
Author: melagan
Pairing: John/Rodney
Rating: R
Word Count: 207

McKay's jaw was locked up tighter than a virgin at a sacrifice. Damn, he always got this way when he thought John's honor was at stake. John could take care of himself, thank you very much. It's not like he was some fragile maiden who needed to be defended. It was utterly useless, completely archaic, and always made John's chest feel funny.

The best thing to do now was get the hell away from the offending parties before the finger pointing and insults erupted. And John had a never-fail plan for keeping the peace.

He'd help Rodney out of his gear when they got back from off-world.

First he'd get the tac vest eased off, letting his knuckles brush across Rodney's shoulders while leaning in close. If that didn't stop the tide of, "I should haves" and "next times" then John would just have to kneel down and help him with his holster. Slowly. Brace one hand up on Rodney's thigh above the leather and work the buckles open with his teeth.
Rodney would never risk stopping him by interrupting, and this kind of quiet was a lot more fun....besides, John could think of at least one good way to get McKay to unlock that jaw later.
