Yay! It's great to hear your interesting responses. :) *bows down to your awesomeness* What you said about John not being a superhero rings true. He might happen to be the guy that saves the galaxy/world/expedition/etc on a regular basis, but he still screws up a lot. And I think that you do express that human part of John admirably in your fics. <3
No, no... no bowing down. I feel I need your chibi!John 'talking' icon. I think I said too much, and while I'm not crazy about talking "me", I could talk writing all day.
John is complicated, but he's human (even though he might try to deny it himself) and I can identify with a lot of what makes John tick and I suppose that's why most of my stories end up from his point of view.
I came to SGA through the fandom, so I brought a lot of my preconceptions to the show once I started to watch. I loved how watching helped to flesh out what I had only imagined in my reading and was blown away by how close the two meshed.
This was exactly my experience. I had this feeling that the show would be really subtle, despite everyone saying how "canon" it was and then I was really shocked by how deep their relationship really was.
I adore how you see John. You see him so completely.
I lay the bare bones foundation and scene descriptions, sometimes just dialogue, and then go back, layer over layer, to fill in.
This is fascinating. I don't think I've ever considered such an approach (I'm a never go back kind of writer myself) --- this sounds really cool to me. I think I might give it a shot. Thanks for giving me something new to think about!
I fell in love with the pairing before ever seeing the first episode, and any feelings I brought with me were only cemented by seeing the characters on screen and by the way in which Flanigan and Hewlett chose to portray them.
