1. What was your first fandom?
I'm a little embarrassed to admit to it, but my first fandom that I wrote in was popslash. I was a diehard *Nsync fan, and to this day I wish I could forget it.
*facepalm*
2. How did you get into writing fanfic/creating fanart?
Back in the days of yore, before LJ and everything else, my friends and I used to be part of egroups, and then it changed to yahoogroups (maybe I have it backwards...?) and among the many *Nsync centric ones, there just happened to be a few that revolved around sexing them up, or them sexing each other up, and then one day I found this nifty little website called... um, Nifty, and really. I was thisclose to washing that experience out of my head forever. Thanks for bringing up such painful, brain spasming memories!
*runs for Tylenol*
3. Is SGA your main squeeze, or are you poly-fandom-ous?
Out of all of the various fandoms I've been in, McShep have somehow remained my One True Pairing. Which is why I've never actually posted a McShep story. I've got a good 836 unfinished ones sitting on various flash drives that will never see the light of day because I've been afraid of being laughed out of the fandom. Really, the only reason I said I'd be a back-up was to force my hand.
But I digress. I've been involved in popslash (cringe), Harry Potter, LoTrips (wince), Star Trek XI, Trek RPS (Pinto all the way!), psych (very, very briefly), Inception, The Social Network and my current love affair has been with the new Hawaii Five-0.
Possibly because Danny and Steve are the new Rodney and John. Just don't tell the rest of fandom I said that.
4. What makes John and Rodney such an inspiring couple for you?
I'm a total, total sucker for bitchiness. I have a slight (re:LARGE) kink for love/hate relationships, so when my good friend
packyrsuitcases dragged me into this fandom years ago kicking and screaming I ended up falling head over heels in love with McKay. And then after I watched for a bit, I realized I wasn't the only one.
I love the fact that John can call Rodney out on his behavior, and how they act like total children around each other. I love how jealous Rodney gets of John's easy charm when around women, and how John subtly cockblocks Rodney whenever possible. I love their emotional immaturity, and how they can do things like argue over 'which Batman character did this' on the way to a Very Important Meeting, or how they have a habit of saving each others lives, or how they bring out the best and the worst out of each other.
They are basically my favorite love story, triumphing over Ms. Bennet and Mr. Darcy any day of the week.
5. Who's your favorite, John or Rodney (or both)? How come?
Hard to say. I love Rodney for being able to say whatever's on his mind, but I love John for being able to do things like emote with his big, wooby eyes while trying to stay strong and smile for his friends.
Okay, that's a lie. I'm a little more in love with Rodney than John, but that's only because I'm a masochist. And I love handing out insults like they're candy to all of my own underlings, so I might connect with him on a professional level. Just the tiniest bit.
6. Where can people find more of your work (McShep or otherwise)?
Pretty much everything I've written you can find at my LJ. Well, okay. Not everything. All of the stuff I wrote before tagging is pretty much lost, because a) there's no way I've got the time to go back and sift through hundreds of old entries, b) if I ever did have the time to go back and sift through old entries, I'd probably delete more than half of them, and c) most of it is crap anyway, so I'm really, really not going to bother with it.
But you can find anything else under my "stuff I wrote" tag. But like I said, this is the first McShep I've fleshed out enough to post without wanting to run for the hills, so it's mostly Inception, H50 or Chris Pine related. Don't look at me like that! He's so pretty.
7. Pick a piece/story of yours that stands out for you. Give us links and tell us why!
I'd have to say that would be my Inception reversebang story
You Clicked Your Heels and Wished For Me. Sometimes an artist draws something that just really stands out to you. You know what I mean?
When I saw the artwork done by the amazing
aredblush I fell completely in love with it. When time came around for claiming, I was a little dismayed when I saw how many people had attempted to claim it, but somehow I got it. I ended up writing almost ten thousand words for it in what felt like days. Never had a story ever come to me the way that one did.
That one will always have a special place in my heart.
8. Finish this sentence: John and Rodney walk into a bar...
...and John says, deadpan, "ow" while Rodney bitches about how he broke his leg, his shins are very sensitive, you know, and it was probably Radek who left it out for him to trip over, the little weasel, and could he get some Tylenol please, what is the holdup?
9. What question do you wish we'd asked?
How many fingers am I holding up? I only say that because I'm slightly delirious from lack of sleep.
Please feel free to disregard this entire interview, as I have a case of 'crazy eyes' right now.
