Let's talk about: you!

1. How long have you been writing fan fiction and/or making fan art and/or whatever else (vids, knitted goods, pornographic gingerbread cookies)?

Ummm. 25 years offline, including 12 years online. I write, mostly.

2. Have you participated or are you participating in any other fandoms?

If you include peripherally, then:  Dr. Who. Trek. Scarecrow and Mrs. King. Remington Steele. X-Files. Sentinel. due South. OZ. SG-1. SGA. Supernatural, Angel, Buffy.  Farscape, Firefly, various Lit Works.

3. What fanwork are you most proud of? Or, what is your favourite of your fanworks? (links, please!)

Hrm. Cold. I don’t know that I’m proud of it, but I feel like I caught a piece of the slipperiness that is John Sheppard.

4. As far as creative processes go, what type of writer/artist are you? Do you create an outline/find photo references/make maps, etc., or do you jump in and go with the flow?

I’m very influenced by mythology, faery tales, poetry. I think I find a hook there and the rest unfolds around this small kernel of something.

5. Where can interested readers/viewers find more of your work? (homepage, LJ fic index, etc.)

What’s on SGA-Flashfic is still easily accessed. The rest not so much.

6. Do you write original fiction (poetry, screenplays)? Do you create original art (comics, photographs, quilts, wedding cakes)? Care to share?

I write poetry. And parody, sometimes. I often give response poetry. If someone has one they liked they can maybe add it?

7. How are you so awesome?

Vitamins. And the magic of television.

Let's talk about: SGA!

8. What do you enjoy most about SGA and/or SGA fandom?

SGA? I like the relationships. I like that Teyla is graceful, that Sam and Elizabeth were both competent, albeit hamstringed by circumstance, experience and the IOA. SGA has some nifty fans. Some that make me blink, too, but the nifty far outweigh the blinky.

9. Why do you ship McKay/Sheppard? What draws you to the pairing, what do you like and dislike? Favourite scenes or episodes? Quotes? Screencaps? What other SGA pairings do you ship?

I think they round each others rough edges down. They don’t have to be something more or better for the other. But they want to be better, you see that in how they interact. Rodney gritting his teeth and manning up. John reaching out to pat Rodney.  I think my favourite moment is from The Shrine, and what that episode says about John and Rodney’s connection. The depth of it, and the importance of it.

Mostly I don’t ship anyone else. I just look for tales well told, and however it ships if they make me feel it, I can go with it.

10. Why did you choose to join Team Peace?

Because I’m always struggling with Peace, as they are. And if you’re struggling, maybe you’re doing it wrong. But you're still trying, right?

11. C'mon, you know you wanna! Just a bit of squee about your Match fic?

I think it has potential. I like where it's heading; But I admit I can't squee in progress, or even much after. It's this other, still place and the noise would scare the wildish things.

12. What are your 'tells'? How can a fic of yours be spotted in the wild? (again, go ahead and make origami out of the truth!)

My words wend their way to their conclusion, but rarely straight on.

And the EXTRAS:

Q: Favorite comfort fics? Favorite comfort foods? (kassrachel)

A: A Beautiful Lifetime Event by astolat (shalott) is my all-time go to. Wick’dzoot’s stuff, some of which she wrote, I suspect, with me in mind when things were hard. Kassrachel’s stuff, Lamardeuse’s stuff. A whole slew of people, really.  As for food?

French Fries.

Q: What is the one thing about fanfic that will have you hitting the backbutton so fast others' heads will spin? (altyronsmaker)

A: If they distort the fandom to the point that I just can’t get there from here. Bad dialogue. Dick and Jane prose.

Q: Is there a difference in the kind of fic you read and the kind of fic you write? (velocitygrass)

A: I think I tend to prefer strong character pieces, although plot driven is cool so long as the character element is there. Still, I suspect my reading tastes are a bit more catholic (small c) than my writing, although I do think I try to have some range.

Q: Do you have a personal soundtrack when you write? Or, related... If one of your favorite stories that you've written was a song, what song would that be? (pollitt)

A: Besides “We Are the Champions”? Nope. Music is just whatever feels “write” --pardon the really awful pun-and lets me zone. I don’t think any of my fics would match any song, but I would love to write the fic that approaches “Metal Heart” by Garbage.
