Dammit, Rodney deserves a little space for his epiphany.

This is adorable. I like how Rodney doesn't have the strength left to save himself, but he does if he's saving John, and how John maybe wasn't completely surprised that Rodney was going to make a move.

I like how this story upended the quotation, finding victory, so to speak, amidst the ashes that usually signal ruin and death. I could see that flash of white teeth in smoke-darkened, ash-covered John's face.
