Wow, yeah, kick in the head really is a good title for this! I really like the quotes that you use as well. And yay for Rodney being brave and going to John at the end and finally doing what they should have done *years* ago!

A really great and insightful look at what makes John tick. And if I could I'd give bonus points to the title because that could be the subtext of nearly every episode of Atlantis. Plus it's metaphorically what John finally gets, so that when Rodney fianlly makes a move John is on the same page for once and really nearly almost did see it coming :-)

Utterly wonderful. I loved the way you lead the reader to anticipate that John won't make it through the gate, and how it's such an anticlimax when he does, so that that turns out not to be his bravest moment in the story. And your Rodney and John voices and characterization are so rich. What a pleasure this was to read.
