Running with Scissors.
Running with Scissors is a movie worth seeing really. I think it is the best movie I've seen in a while. I think it is classified as a comedy, but I really didn't find it that funny, but more of a drama. However, it left me feeling emotional. Mike says he would classify it as a dark comedy.
High on my reading list right now:
Beloved - entrenched with symbolism and the ills of slavery in the U.S.
Disgraced - not much to say except it was definitely an interesting read.
The English Patient - A must read! Especially if you've seen the shallow movie, based off it.
The Handmaiden's Tale - My favorite this semester. It is a science fiction novel that shows a United States taken over by a religious regime that subjugates women to an extreme degree. The story revolves around a Handmaiden who tells her story limited to her POV. So you really don't get a big picture of the political happenings of the U.S., but little snippets pop up here and there to give you an idea.
