When the Chickens Come Home to Roost

Jul 07, 2011 12:09

I have just been informed by my roommate Rambling Girl that We Have A Problem. Since I got back from Denver, and she returned from her globe-trotting, there are now three people living in my house--me and two hot chicks. Advantage: me. In order to make this work, though, they're doubling up in the master bedroom, and I'm in the front bedroom. I get to sleep quite peacefully, while their slumbers are rather less tranquil. On account of we just had some folks move into one of the houses beyond the back fence, and evidently they are urban homesteaders. With a large chicken coop. And as even you city slickers might know, chickens like nothing better than to awake at around 5:00 AM to launch into a round of vigorous squawking and clucking and carrying-on. So now I'll probably have to wander over there and...what? Demand they erect a giant Cone of Silence? Muzzle their fowl? I can't see this going well.
