Thought it would be interesting to take a look at some stuff the day after it was aired. Just to refresh:
MCR'S Official VideoGlee's Version (uncut)Glee's Version (cut) Currently SING is rising rapidly on the iTunes charts, it went from the 126 last night to (as of now)62 60 55 54 52 51 48 on the Top 100. While it has never left the Alternative charts Top 20, selling consistently since it was released and hitting the Top 5 at random points, it's now rising again and is (as of now) at 5 4. Edit and it actually just came to my attention SING is actually charting THREE TIMES at 5 4 and 12 11 and 93 on the Alternative Chart (and Welcome to the Black Parade is on this chart at 51 43. And another EDIT, Teenagers has re-entered the Alt charts at 100), so quite a bit of selling going on here.
The Glee version (MCR is most likely getting a cut of these sales which is why I'm including these numbers) is also doing quite well, currently at 15 14 13 10 9. Occasionally Glee renditions won't generate sales for the original version but it appears that in the case of MCR people are checking out the original version at a rapid pace.
Music Chart FeedsDoipod And as stated these are just the iTunes charts, we will have to wait a little bit to see what kind of movement there will be on physical charts like Billboard. Currently it sits at number 8 on Rock Songs, number 3 on Alternative Songs and number 28 on Adult Pop.
SING on Billboard A couple articles:
Glee Sparks Buzz for My Chemical Romance on Bieber EpisodeJustin Bieber’s music and look might have received the bulk of the attention on Tuesday’s episode of “Glee,” but as far as Internet searchers are concerned, it was the cast’s cover of My Chemical Romance’s “SING” that generated the most excitement.
“Sing It for the World,” a key lyric from the chorus, is currently the most-searched topic on Google. “Glee” often sends queries related to its song lyrics to the Google top twenty, but as of press time, the chart-topping reference to “Sing” is the show’s only presence on that trending list.
Review of "Comeback"Contains a very nice review of the rendition towards the end.
Edit I'll try and update this when I get a chance and if there's some significant movement, otherwise feel free to follow along and post updates if you wish.
