I think the thing I love most about their current interviews is their willingness to say "you know, we thought we wanted to make a different kind of music, but we were wrong, this is who we are." And the fact that they were willing to do the hard thing - scrap a whole lot of work, risk the backlash that they got this year - to sit down and make something that obviously makes them all this happy. I admire the hell out of them for it.

Agreed. And even the fact that they mention that everyone else loved it - they COULD have released it, but in the end, they didn't want to, and decided something else. That's tough.

It is! There had to be so much pressure - it's been so long since their last album, the label is probably about to explode, they'd already done press for the album - so to actually stand up and say "no, we're going to do it again" took a lot of guts. I love them for that.
