I really really love them both! The World is Ugly is so fucking great. I love the vocal effects and the rough guitar part that underlays some of the later verses/chorus. Yummy.

And oh my god. The Light Behind Your Eyes. The descriptions of this song from when they were first working on this album made me think it was going to be some truly sappy drivel that would be overly earnest in a bad way. NOPE. Oh god, the sentiment is PERFECT and HEARTBREAKING and the music is absolutely gorgeous. Love it.

It didn't help that I heard these songs on Friday after the news that day, so I sobbed through listening to them both. But then, I think at the very least The Light Behind Your Eyes would've made me cry anyway.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to be possible to dissociate these songs from all that emotion of Friday. They were perfect in a really heartbreaking way. ;______♥

For The Light Behind Your Eyes I really expected something closer to The Only Hope For Me Is You. And it's...really not. I'm really curious how they started with one and ended up with the other. Band, tell us all your secrets! O_____O

Yeah, definitely. It was definitely strange timing, but I'm really glad for it because music always tends to help me when I'm really upset. <3

I saw someone say something about that earlier (perhaps it was you!) and I thought to myself.. it's weird but I can understand how they got from one to the other, there's just something in The Light Behind Your Eyes, if I'm thinking about it, that makes sense with The Only Hope For Me Is You.. but I have NO IDEA how to explain it, it's just a feeling. IDK. Band, please explain it yourselves! :)

Hee, yes it was probably me! I can kind of see a...feeling in there that's the same. IDK, maybe I'll get energetic/ambitious and try to do some real comparison, with lyrics and everything.

I really like them. I think they're both really beautiful and I'm amazed all over again how versatile this band is (which is totally my Conventional Weapons refrain, heh).

And again, these songs make a great pair. Right in the feels. ♥_____ ♥
