It lists it as that location on the site but it doesn't surprise me they got it wrong. For the Minnesota one the city listed was Minneapolis but it was actually in St. Paul. I don't think there's a lot of research or knowledge involved in their tour listings, unfortunately.
They usually pick the largest market city for tour date listings. On this tour especially, amphitheaters are typically located in the suburbs of the major city. For example, the show the other night in Camden, NJ is really the Philadelphia stop on the tour, Greenwood Village, CO was the Denver show, Bristow, VA was the Washington DC stop, etc.
Google Maps says West Palm Beach is only 1hr 20min from Miami. Although that's still pretty far to be called Miami.
Hmmm, while I do understand that in theory and I totally concede your knowledge on the issue, it makes no sense for a few of these stops. I would say West Palm Beach is a pretty major location for instance and St. Paul is actually the capital of Minnesota and while Minneapolis/St. Paul are commonly confused with each other, I wouldn't say it would make sense to put in Minneapolis because it's the largest market city. St. Paul is a large market city, especially because it does have the Xcel Center.
So I guess my thing is I think it's a lot of people going with whoever is giving them the info and not checking and being lazy about it and strategically listing the cities as certain places. But to me, it doesn't make sense to be so completely off about a listing, marketing-wise anyway. Most people will quickly figure out where a venue actually is.
