yay for Easter

I accomplished something really big this weekend, well big for me because I'm a total knob. I managed to meet the s.o.'s family without saying anything even remotely inappropriate! This is a big deal for me, I always make lame/inappropriate jokes when I meet new people. And this was not just his immediate family, I met the entire Wieler clan and they all have a decent chance of liking me because I acted like a normal person for the entire evening. It was actually moderately fun, we went out to the city of Winkler aka land of many churches and business named after Menno's and enjoyed some chicken, meatballs, pototatoes, stuffing, and various vegetables I did not  eat, I managed to not freak out when his aunt asked me if I would be using my history degree to teach, looked at 127 of his aunt's vacation pictures, and played cards. Highlights of the evening included: when his entire family came downstairs and found me reading Berstein Bears and gushing over how my grandparents have the same boardgames and when we went through their record collection and found 'Believercise,' thats right, areobics choreographed to contemporary gospel music! And I now know how my parents feel when my sister and I are together because I had to listen to constant sibling bickering for six hours, over things like hockey and cars and how late stores are open, it was horrible. Oh and I looked at their family's geneology book because I am a true history nerd and then his mom got me to check out some baby pics, just in case I didn't already thing he's super cute.

I'm extremely sad that I haven't had a single hot cross buns, they are my absolute favourite part of Easter. Well, close second to the whole Jesus saving us thing.

Only two weeks to go....
