Summary: A year later Erica returns. Who will Callie choose?
Author's Note: This is the first fanfiction I'm posting. I'm a little nervous. Comments appreciated =]
Author's Note 2: This chapter is short but they will get longer.
It's been a year since Erica left me standing in the parking lot. It took a while, but I've picked up the pieces and moved on. It wasn't that I was forgetting about Erica, but punishing myself wasn't doing any good. I still miss her though. She was my best friend and no matter what was happening between us, I should have remembered that. Erica was amazing. She was gorgeous, and kind, and smart, but most importantly she's gone now. Then Arizona came into the picture. She kissed me out of nowhere in Joe's bathroom. After some initial hesitation on her part, we finally started dating. I even introduced her to my father and ended up losing my family for her. Arizona put me together again after Erica left, but I can't help but think that maybe I'm just trying to deny what my heart really desires. I'm pulled from my thoughts when I feel an arm tracing lazy patterns against my leg. I turn and face the beautiful blonde laying beside me.
"What are you thinking about?" she asks.
Thinking about Erica. "Reliving the past."
She reaches out and brushes a wild curl from in front of my eyes. "Is that good or bad?"
I can see the concern in her eyes. "A little of both, but the futures looking up."
"I love you Calliope"
What? Did she just say she loves me? No running Callie. Do not run. "Arizona, I .. umm ..I - "
"It's okay. I didn't say it expecting you to say it back. You'll say it when you're ready. No pressure here."
I lean over and give her a chaste kiss. "Thank you."
She smiles and her dimples appear. She's so beautiful and I should feel lucky to be with her. "We should get up. I have surgery at nine."
I nod and we eventually drag ourselves out of bed and get dressed. We arrive at work a little after eight and Arizona gives me a quick kiss before heading to her office. I walk to the locker room and see Mark standing by the door."
I quirk my eyebrow at him. "Morning?"
"Morning."
"Let me guess, you're waiting for Lexie?"
"Not exactly." He looks kind of nervous. He opens his mouth to say something but the door to the locker room pushes open and Christina looks from Mark to me.
"Did you tell her yet?" she asks to Mark.
"I was about to before you decided to join us."
I'm seriously confused. "Tell me what?"
Mark puts his hand on my shoulder and I can already tell that this 'something' they have to tell me is not going to be anything I want to hear. He once again opens his mouth to speak, but Christina blurts it out for him. "Hahns back!"
This is deffinitly something I wasn't ready for. "What?"
This time Mark wastes no time in speaking, "She's only here for a consult. I saw her this morning when I got here."
"A consult with who?"
"Take a guess."
I can't deal with this right now. "Please don't tell me its who I think it is." Mark looks down at his feet so I change my gaze to Christina. She nods. Erica Hahn is here for a consult with my girlfriend. I hope I'm ready for this.
