I am already in bed. With this being daylight saving weekend, I've set all my clocks already this afternoon since my philosophy is I'd rather lose an hour during the day when I'm doing nothing anyway, and get a full night of sleep when I can enjoy my crazy dreams in full. I like daylight saving time. I like being able to do stuff outside in the evenings after work. In fact, I'd be happy if it were daylight saving time year round, just replace EST with Nova Scotia time or something.
You're probably wondering if it would be easier if I just shifted my work schedule one hour earlier.
The answer is no. Shifting my own schedule would do nothing for the fact that the office kitchen doesn't open until 7:30am, and contained within that kitchen is the nasty brown liquid that has the power to temporarily transform me into a non-savage creature for a few hours. Therefore, everyone must wake up an hour earlier so that I may have my free office coffee, and be able to do stuff in the sunlight after work.
Speaking of coffee, today was also the Coffee Party Movement Day. I find it sad that we've gotten to the point where there now needs to be a special day set aside for people to talk about politics with respect and dignity. I think it's a great idea, although I did not get a chance to talk about politics with anyone today. In fact I did not talk to anyone about anything today. I will make up for it right now.
It seems most of the focus on different groups of thought has been on political affiliation (Democrat or Republican) or ideology (conservative or liberal). The problem with this is that no matter which side you are on, if you are a reasonable person, you will get lumped in and carry the stigma of the unreasonable members of your grouping.
I'd like to propose a more effective classification of people for political purposes (I would love to just say "reasonable or unreasonable" but that's a bit too subjective). How about Inclusive Worldview or Exclusive Worldview. The Exclusive seek to exclude other people from whatever they are, and focus on differences. The Inclusive seek to include other people and focus on similarities. The Exclusive are the extremists on both ends who make a lot of noise but have no interest in solving problems. The Inclusive are most of us, the moderates who have our own views but are able to work with other people with other views, work with our differences, and quietly solve the problems.
All right, so that's the best I can come up with while half asleep. Discuss.
