Round Two

I was invited to enroll in the LRWG novel writing course. I'm ecstatic about this, because it's been a long process of waiting. After my instructor from my last class there nominated me, I had to wait five months before they decided who to invite.

So I sent in my enrollment this morning. The course starts in November, so I'm thinking that month is going to be sort of crazy with writing because it's also National Novel Writing Month. A deep breath before the plunge...

I've decided that the genre I want to focus on is historical fiction, because I really enjoy it...not that I don't also enjoy fantasy and horror. I do.

Speaking of Horror...I'm reading "Feed," by Mira Grant and really enjoying it. If you like zombie fiction, this is a great book to try. It takes place in the future, but successfully (there are so many futuristic zombie stories that fail for various reasons). But if you like politics--even imaginary politics--and have ever had the slightest interest in blogging (why are you on LJ if you haven't?) and are partial to zombies...this book is totally worth it.

Next on my reading list are some books by Philippa Gregory, the new Olympians book by Rick Riordan (adored the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series), some classics and the first of the Stackhouse books (the series that inspired True Blood). No sparkle vampires for me, thanks...these vampires do anything *but* sparkle.

Anyway! That's my happy rant about books. And as my friend and I now say...we're no longer so much Bookish as Nookish.
