the good soldier (and other proverbs)

So I woke up after a rough night running a temperature. Like a damn fool I think myself into work and make like Sir Digby Chicken Caesar - I'm increasingly getting hacked off with people's attitude in our esteemed womb (IMHO a favour is just that, not a demand and if something takes 8 weeks to sort out, then it will take 8 weeks and you whining doesn't get it done faster) and am once again considering ways out when someone remarks I look a bit 'rough'.  I nod sagely. said it was a bit borderline today.

This is probably one of the many broken things about the place, that you're expected to drag yourself in when ill.

Went home at 2.15 feeling worse, got in, spodded for a half hour then hit the sack to be woken by the sound of wife tutting - yes I know I shouldn't have gone, yes I feel like shit, stuff had to be done today and despite cliches it had to be done by me.  I've been a good soldier, now let me convalesce for I have adopted the mantle of Virusman from
kal_357 who is pimping the Damage allnighter - not sure that's how you take it easy but no matter it's his thang...

Don't think I'll be there as it's the SINergy meetup at the Sal from 2pm followed by the wife's birthday on Sunday.  Yessir the old social calendar doth overflow.  Now all I have to do is get well enough to sort it out.

I've got another player.  Meet the wife.  Incidentally, the game roster on this one is full and will be for some time I fear.  They met their first vampires, a drive-by on a couple of (possibly) Awakened priests who were walking out of a burning diner.  Some vulgarity involving UV light, their first experience of why a Frenzying vampire with Celerity and Wolf Claws can ruin someone's day and their first Goth Club With Benefits (tm) looms ominously.
Had to laugh at this Register article about how blogging is un-Christian.  While I agree on the tendency of blogs to be all 'sound & fury, signifying nothing' to paraphrase the Bard I'm not so certain that the using IMs, emails to communicate was strictly on message - this is just as valid a medium as letter-writing.  However, citing Proverbs 17:27-28 was to my mind, delicious irony.
