That was another week.
Watching a neighbours cat chase an insect through the long grass this morning made me wish I'd got a digital camera on standby because the interplay was truly comic in the sense of early Tom & Jerry chase scenes. Not helped by this cat being black, grey and white. Amusing but this will be gone soon alas. For with February comes flexi leave, building work and handyman stuff and concerted work on 17 and 56.
I'd like cats more if I wasn't really allergic to them so I shall settle for watching them through glass for now.
This week everyone has had THAT cough. I go to work, I come home, the cough follows me like an over-eager puppy dog.
I have tried to ply
absintheskiss with Lemsips and herbal tea but she's now working on the thermonuclear medicine approach. I'm not quite sure how an expectorant is supposed to reduce coughing beyond a kill-or-cure capacity so I shall abide a while and keep plying the good lady with hot liquids until she's up and at them. Even I thought I'd got it on Friday but a few cups of ginger and lemon tea sweetened with honey soon put paid to any craziness in that department. And plans for world domination flow like the Don.
This week I've reaped the rewards of virtue, 1.8 and 2.0km swims and resulting boosts in self-esteem and shifts in body shape. Still a long way to go but a plan is forming and yes, it's not as grim or dire as what I'd originally envisaged. I just need persistence and to kick it up a gear when I'm ready.
Friday night was post-work drinkies with a team which is slowly forming and then a leaving do I didn't know about (seriously folks, wtf?) which I stumbled into. Unfortunately, one of our better marketing people is moving on to market for a specialist school in Mansfield but has threatened to come back if she can get a pay rise. I bade her good luck but she did threaten to mud wrestle one of her possible rivals for a shot at the job. I'd never thought of HR as a career move and as I'm happily married, I never will. Her husband did look intrigued though...
Anyways in other news... :o)
Happy Birthday
elrohana!
If you are having trouble finding a book, then take a look at
Alibris. These guys are good at finding obscure copies.
Michelle Ryan to appear in
next Tennant Dr. Who special as mysterious woman in leather jacket. Still prefer her in Jekyll though.
On Monday the 26th, the owners of
extreme imagery become criminalised. It all sounds innocent for now but I would be concerned if this Act is interpreted the same way that Regulation of Investigatory Powers has been. A lot of people with alternative lifestyles may find that what was once harmless fun may be considered somewhat differently in the eyes of the law.
RIP
Patrick McGoohan,
Ricardo Montalban and
Bob May (the man in the Robbie The Robot suit).
