Today is Saturday. I haven't checked my e-mail since Tuesday. In review I'm wondering what the hell happened because I had energy at the start of this week. Big bloody gobbets of it. Now I'm all crashy. Meh. Up & at them methinks. On Monday I plan on busting a few doors open Angel-style and sending a note to say 'Sorry I haven't been in touch.' to friends, family etc. I need more equilibrium or something.
Work has been the usual delightful mix of watching left hand and right hand bypass each other. It has been painful to watch as workflows I've set up get derailed due to the culture of 'need to know'. I am considering shaking a couple of people by the throat until the red rage fades and I'm all calm again. On Thursday I had a very pleasant conversation with one of the old guard at the parent Department and we reminisced on old days which could come around again pending the new job. Also had some not-so-good news about one of my patrons who is due to retire shortly on medical grounds. She deserves better and I'll be sorry to see her go, she had this no-nonsense approach that helped me when I got stonewalled sometimes.
I spent a very pleasant morning curled up asleep following a couple of ciders and big food at the Sal. Ran into some peeps and helped
absintheskiss come down from the fact she is free of the bad place and with the able help of
paulbroz and
virginiasmith we celebrated the passing of Pratocol (sic?) from our lives. Someone could make a killing performing corporate exorcisms for those who have been utterly infected by their workplace. I'd do it but I intend on being an Internet Millionaire(tm) so that's just someone else' bailliwick.
I've put on a vintage Nazgul set this afternoon and it's not half bad. I've got the rest of Supernatural Season 3 to go through before I take on Beowulf and then it's Doctor Who in Pompeii (and was it me or was the Frankie Howerd drama with David Walliams particularly good to watch?). If you can't escape on Saturday, when can you?
