the necessity of bravura

On reflection, this week has somewhat sucked.

Started off well.  Monday was a good game - people asked questions, got answers and the threads are starting to look a bit more like a tapestry and less like a ball of string.  I'm quietly relieved because a few weeks back people weren't seeing it.  Now they've had time to do some thinking about how it works and suddenly it's all making much more sense.  Managed to make Dad smile on his Birthday which made more of it worthwhile.

Joined Facebook and am slowly finding people.  A dismaying number of work-types on there so I can't entirely cut loose so I shall be mostly good though if there are comments I shall smile sweetly at them while making hand-gestures.

Don't worry gentle readers.  This is where the love is.

Workenspiele continues to aggravate.  I've managed to do my job but not complete the additional legions of stuff, have landed two people dans la merde just by copying and pasting and we had an oops on Friday which is going to reverberate somewhat for the next two weeks with possible legal implications.  I'm back in a situation where if I take the leave I'm due it's going to put the team over it's head again and I'm starting to wonder if those in charge are sitting back to see whether I can pull another of my patented miracles out of the hate.  I meant hat but actually hate works better.  Bowling with the fellow inmates was OK but I was definitely the odd one.  I've come to the conclusion that this is perhaps how it should be in this situation if the plans I originally had are to come to fruition.  The board is taking shape, let's see how the next few moves fare...

Add to this a somewhat tense week due to the wife being misled by her management, sudden disappearances this weekend and I'm beginning to get the impression I'm chasing smoke again.  My faith is low pilgrims but I will endure.

In other news...

A self-proclaimed vampire witch is running for President and intends to take a bite out of crime and kill criminals by impaling them on his impaling stick.  He also intends to impale the current incumbent.  Here's the movie.  The name to watch for in 2012 is Sharkey which by freakish coincidence is Saruman's moniker when he comes to The Shire in the original LOTR (not that Jackson hackery).  That'll get the Tolkein vote for sure! XD.  He also flirted with professional wrestling and recorded an album of Elvis covers.  A quintessential American.

You can now keep sloths, emus and raccoons without a license.  ARE THEY MAD?  Who in their right mind wants a raccoon?  These are foragers first-class who make cats and squirrels look like amateurs.  However, the name of the Act of Parliament that allows this to happen is just awesome.  The Dangerous Wild Animals Act.  Is it me or does this sound like a six-year old named this one?

Sibu the orang-utan is a gentleman.  He prefers blondes.  With tattoos.  He did show interest with a female orang-utan and they have plans to reunite in Chester (he comes from Amsterdam which explains the thing about tattooed blondes) so it may just be a holiday romance... but seriously the idea of tattooing an orang-utan and dyeing it's hair blonde.  Just no.  All you need to do is head up to any Northern town, you'll find someone who fits the criteria (female, blonde, tattooed, looks like an orang-utan) and they're 99% genetically compatible.  Jurassic Park did more with less, if you know what I mean.

Condi Rice has announced the FBI will be investigating Blackwater activities in Iraq as a Senate bill gets passed to regulate their activities.  The bill's sponsor speaks out: "It goes without saying that contract personnel who are armed and authorized to use deadly force ought to be closely monitored..." "The secretary still needs to address the essential question of accountability: How will rogue individuals who commit criminal acts be brought to justice?"  If you're on a war footing and you've hired mercenaries to go pacify the local resistance, why would you go to these lengths unless there was something deeply screwy going on.
