This week has been bizarre. I've seen things I'm still trying to make sense of. As I'm failing spectacularly, I invoke braindump until I can get some kind of context. If my wording is terse or possibly snarky, then that's a fair call. Need to get this stuff out.
SG:UK was much fun. Crewing is absolutely the way to go. Oh, and ant bites after a week? Anyone have any good remedies?
Yes I will be there September work permitting. I'm still drinking Coke after last weekend's excesses where a bottle of mead suffered an unfortunate Name Me Famous-related incident. As an impartial observer I've noticed among certain established players certain issues. I will note the first rule of gaming - you must want to play together. If issues are as big as some imply, perhaps they would be better served expressing concerns constructively and with respect for the listener because repressed bile and sarcasm pisses people off and breaches the above caveat. Which would be a shame. I really enjoyed the event but found the above attitudes tarnishing what should have been an awesome event.
However, I would like to put a bid in for
honey badgers for the next event. No really. Jaffa say what?
Am finding Web 2.0 is getting crazy. Having had my mind blown twice in the same day,
Dapper +
Yahoo!Pipes = Like Whoa!
EventWax - I keep looking at this, then various LARPs, then back at this.
Writing is proving annoying. Eyes keep drifting over to the stack of 3.5 books and I keep flicking through and pondering the upgrade to an old 2E world of mine. This is not a small project. Fortunately my list of big-ass projects has gone missing so I'll just work on those I remember. While I'm having fun with this mental decluttering there's plenty to do, particularly for the Monday night crew who have been neglected. Organising thoughts and planning for SINergy is proving somewhat tricky and ephemeral at the moment, there are a number of gadfly like tasks taking up my concentration and frankly I'm in need of enough time to sit down and hash this stuff out properly. Must schedule something in diary for 2 weeks time!
Achieved Foundation level APMP qualification. Go me.
One for the Transformers fanbots out there -
a mobile phone you really, really want. Trust me.
The new computer is proving elusive. It appears that trying to get a dual-core system without Vista, a gig+ of RAM and a decent TFT monitor AND have it under £400 is not in the interests of vendors. You know it's bad when Dell are giving you the best offer and MS WORKS = DO NOT WANT. Gah!
Sal on Friday was fun with massive burgers, conversations range from Dyson spheres to biotechnology and terrorism, hen party hags, alternatives to whisky, Glasgow urban life and how karaoke turns everyone into Lordi. Saw some familiar faces and friendly responses from those who hadn't been seen in quite some time. Those who missed it, missed it.
