In honor of my upcoming one year anniversary of moving to the Washington, DC metropolitan area, I thought I would post some of my major accomplishments. Over the past year, I have:
- Learned when to refer to a road as a number and when to refer to a road by a name, even when it's the same road in reference;
- "Ran" four distance running events;
- Wrecked a car from three time zones away (not my proudest moment, but it is an entertaining story);
- Learned to begin sentences with the phrase, "Did you see the article in the Post?"
- Bought a bicycle;
- Ridden said bicycle 30 miles along the canal towpath without ending up a corpse in the Potomac River;
- Ditto for riding said bicycle from city center DC to two outer radii of the city;
- Made it up to Baltimore to see the O's play three times;
- Made it to Nationals Park to see the Nationals play once;
- Lost 16 pounds;
- Joined a softball team;
- Finished my Masters degree (finally!);
- Demonstrated my prowess as an internal auditor;
- Made some fantastic friends in the area;
- Demonstrated (most of the time) that I can be in the same city with a certain someone without falling at his feet and worshipping him;
- Been to the beach exactly once;
- Taken cheap flights up to see each side of my family exactly once;
- Seen fall foliage AND spring cherry blossoms;
- Learned the Montgomery County Public Transit system to avoid having to drive to the snow in the winter;
- Explored an ABSOLUTELY fantastic city and taken lots of pictures for my scrapbook; and
- Started to realize what an absolutely adorable, fantastic, amazing person I truly am.
Not too bad.
