As of today, March 23, 2006, there exists a company in the state of Iowa called McLeod Enterprises. My Ebay store exists (albeit no inventory yet), and i am waiting to hear back from my supplier prospects. The Ebay store is called Forever Pandermonium...named after Amanda's petname of Pander. But i also picked it because pander is defined as "to give satisfaction to." Pandemonium is defined as either "topsy-turviness" or "chaos." The name has double meaning...one, named after Amanda. Two...a clever way of implying we aim to give our customers an exquisite satisfaction.
It's fun to go through the process of being a legitimate business. I have to be a legitimate business because my suppliers are wholesalers who sell to me without sales tax. As a retailer, i get the burden of collecting sales tax for the state..and so i must be licensed by the state to do that. That was step one. Now that i have registered with the county under the trade name of McLeod Enterprises i am a legitimate business. And a trademark search with the US Patent Office says there are no other companies of that name (at least none that will legally hinder my name).
The reason the store is differently named from McLeod Enterprises is because that kind of name doesn't suit retailing the kind of product i intend to sell, which is Home Decor. My market research tells me that is a good field to be in and will be for a long time. McLeod Enterprises mainly exists as the Father company of all of my future projects. In time...if i have success in what i dream of doing, i will take steps to incorporate, either as an LLC or S Corp. Would like to be what's called a Nevada Corporation (just a special kind with special priveleges..namely certain tax priveleges.) Look out world!!!
