I'm voting against all Beyonce after what she and Kanye West did to Taylor Swift at the MTV Music Video Awards last year. And if you think it didn't happen, take another look at Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video and tell me she deserved the win. I can imagine that the MTV ratings board went something like this:
EXEC #1: We gotta bring these ratings up for the Awards this year. Beyonce's paid in full for hers to be video of the year.
EXEC #2: But that video was horrible! She doesn't deserve it. The audience will know she didn't earn it. Taylor Swift should get it.
EXEC #1: I don't care. She paid more than the others for it. Besides, I rank higher than you. See my number? It's #1. You're #2.
EXEC #3: Now, why don't we come to a compromise. I have an idea. What we need is a distraction. Let's see... we can give Taylor Swift Best Female Video and have Kanye interrupt her speech with his annoying... thing he does.
EXEC #2: How does that help? She--
EXEC #3: I'm not finished. Now, when Beyonce wins Video of the Year, we'll have her give up her speech to Taylor, since Taylor's got interrupted. Now, no one's going to be thinking about the fact that Beyonce didn't deserve the award.
EXEC #2: Fine, but I still say she didn't deserve it.
EXEC #3: I agree. The synchronization was horrible, but this way everybody gets what they paid for.
And if you still don't think it happened, watch the video again. I also have this bit of news for you: Jersey Shore and Laguna Beach are NOT unscripted.
