SO...
I was at the ski resort up here yesterday with one of my yardmasters and we were talking about life and how things have changed over the past 20-30 years. I should also note that he has a degree in social psychology, which might not mean much to most, but it definitely puts emphasis on the following.
We were on the lift and talking about relationships, welfare, our economy, etc. Our conversation about marriages really struck me. He asked me about my parent's marriage and if they were still together, which they are. He noted that his were too and went on to mention that relationships like that do not exist anymore or they are few and fare between.
He has been divorced once and is remarried and complains about his wife not wanting to do anything, which sparked the welfare conversation... why work if you can get everything you want for free, but that's another story. He was saying how he believes the whole dynamic to a marriage has changed. How we are never satisfied anymore and we are always wanting more. He mentioned that women in the workplace has also played a role in changing things, and that infidelity is more prevalent, or at least more well-known.
Do you think that it's true? I realize that relationships are never even, no matter what type of relationship it is. Is there someone, somewhere for everyone that will complete someone? I just don't think that life works out the way that it does in movies or in the past. Things are always changing, relationships, goals, and so on and so forth.
This only adds to how i feel about life. speaking of life, I'm currently watching True Life on MTV and it's about long distance relationships. I think it's funny how all of these relationships are struggling, as was mine with Becca. Would things be different if they were together? Maybe, maybe not. Constant fighting, nagging, phone conversations that turn into fights, etc. etc. Really makes me want to get into one of those again... I think we're all better off just having friends and being friends.
I definitely think that it's all very interesting.
