It was a huge thing for him and Finn to set aside their old differences and connect as brothers. It had taken most of the time since their parents started dating to chip away at it all. They had to force themselves to spend time together and work through the awkwardness and gradually they forged a relationship that had become special to them both. They were as every bit the brothers biological siblings could be. They had an understanding they were beyond chalk and cheese, and would never have the same tastes in, well, anything, but they realised that didn't matter. That wasn't what family was about, and now they were close. A few months back when Finn was still having more douchy moments than not, Kurt would probably have felt awkward in a hug like this, but not now. He appreciated the comfort and let out a shaky breath in the embrace in an attempt not to start bawling.

"You don't know that. Please don't say that," he mumbled. All he wanted was someone to tell him something - anything - on Blaine's condition. Even just a passing ( ... )

Nick was lying on a narrow gurney in one of the bays of the busy ER. He could hear how crazy things were behind the curtains pulled around his bed, and he was lying there trying not to give into the urge to burst into terrified tears. His arm was bandaged up to the elbow after it had been trapped against the door on impact, but they told him it wasn't broken. They dressed all the cuts and put his arm in a sling, then sutured the across his forehead in his hairline, but then told him he would have to wait for further medical advice because they had other victims in the crash more critical and requiring attention first. That made sense. It wasn't like Nick couldn't handle the cuts and bruises and a bang to the head if his friends lives were at risk ( ... )

"Okay, I'm sorry, dude. I just don't really know what to say, okay? Blaine's hurt and you're scared. I get it. Do you want me to go away? I can leave you alone, I know you sometimes like that..." Finn was floundering. He didn't want to leave Kurt alone like this, but Kurt did tend to hide away when he was hurting. Finn didn't want to be a pain in the ass, even if that was a skill he seemed to have perfectly honed over the years.

He didn't even know if Kurt heard his phone buzz in his pocket with a text message, but Kurt did eventually shift to did it out. Finn just chewed on his lip and looked around at all the people. Everyone looked so worried and stressed. This was Lima, a small town. It wasn't like shit like this went down every day and it was going to be be a huge impact, no matter what. It just sucked that people they knew were involved. Finn just hoped no one died, especially Blaine. Blaine had to stay alive for Kurt.

Kurt brushed away some tears that just started to shed and had his phone gripped in his hand because they were shaking so much. He kept waiting for a doctor to come around that corner and tell them the worst, and it didn't help that being in a hospital only made him think back to the horrible times when his mom and dad were seriously sick. But he gave Finn's upper arm a small pat, sniffling a little. "It's fine, Finn. I don't want you to go away. Thanks for coming with me, I couldn't have kept it together without you grounding me. You woke me up to the get call too, and I would never--" He choked up and tried to swallow the lump in his throat. "I would never forgive myself if I wasn't here if he needed me ( ... )

"Kurt!" Nick gasped in shock. It wasn't like he was expecting Kurt to just appear out of nowhere like a freaking ghost. "Oh god. Thank god you're here. I-I've been trying to call, how did you know? Are you okay?" He started to well up with tears then and they spilled over. It was was all so scary and it was just a relieve to see a familiar face that wasn't bleeding.

He didn't even try to wipe away the tears and reached for Kurt's hand with his own that wasn't bandaged. "I don't know if I'm okay. It was horrible. T-The noise... it was just... I... Kurt, Blaine's really hurt. I don't know where they've taken him, but he was here in the bed next to me then they took him away. I-I don't know about anyone else. I keep asking them, but no one will tell me! Blaine banged his head, on the window beside him but he was slumped over the steering wheel once we stopped and he was badly bleeding. We tried to wake him up, but he wouldn't."

Finn hadn't said a word as he just followed Kurt mutely. He could deny he appreciated Kurt's reassurance, though. It was nice to hear that he wasn't completely useless and actually even some help to his brother right now. He didn't know what was going on or where Kurt was running off to until they were both standing in the bay where Nick was. When Kurt moved closer to his friend's side, Finn just stayed standing at the end of the bed, more disbelief just setting in. Nick didn't look severely hurt, but he didn't look good either. He had a patched up head and arm, and he looked really pale.

Then he started to talk about Blaine and Finn's mouth dropped open a little. "Did they say he was gonna be okay?" he asked, glancing at Kurt in concern in case he was going to pass out or something.

Kurt took Nick's hand and wrapped both of his around it to give Nick a little comfort, even if it was just for a few moments. He wanted to freak out, and he was borderline about to lose it just hearing about the ordeal and picturing what Nick was trying to explain. His legs felt like jelly and he didn't know how much longer he was going to be able to keep it together, but he had to right then. Nick was injured and he was alone.

"W-We'll try and find out, okay? I don't know how. There is so much going on, but we'll try. You just need to rest, Nick. Especially if you've hit your head..." His voice got shaky and wavered, just like his resolve. "Oh god, he has to be okay. Please let him be okay."

"Kurt... it's okay... it's okay..." Nick said tearfully when he linked his fingers with Kurt. "He's in better hands here than he was out there. The paramedics were really awesome, they took good care of him, I promise. I think they just took him somewhere to be watched more closely, which is a good thing. H-How did you know, though? I was trying to ring you. I know it was the middle of the night and you were probably in bed, I thought you would want to be with him though."

He stopped to suck in a shaky breath, the tears now streaming down his face. "Kurt, I don't know where Jeff is. I don't know if he's o-okay. Can you try and find him for me? I don't know what I'll do if something bad has happened to him."

If Finn felt helpless before, he felt even moreso now. He couldn't even imagine how Kurt and Nick were feeling. He knew how horrible it had been when Burt had his heart attack, and that was bad enough. He wanted to try and help, but he hardly knew Nick and he didn't want to stick his nose in. "I can go try and find out. I dunno if anyone will tell me anything, but I can walk around and see if I can see him?" he suggested with a small shrug.

He knew what Jeff looked like, at least. He had seen Nick hanging with him whenever Finn had been around the Warblers. Plus, Finn had visited Dalton a few times when Kurt went there, so he had gradually become friends with the Warblers. Right now, he would just do anything if someone needed him to, and hopefully not suck at it.
