Santana couldn't believe what she was doing. She had never been more nervous in her life, and it was taking all of her willpower not to visibly shake. But she had to do this. She had to tell Brittany how she felt because she wasn't going to risk losing her again.
She flinched a little when Brittany's first comment after she'd spoken was that they never talked. Of course they talked all the time, but never about anything important; Santana always deflected and insisted that everything was fine and there was nothing to talk about. Still, she kept going. She explained what she had been thinking, everything she'd realized all over again: that she was a bitch because she was angry and afraid to deal with what she felt for Brittany because of what the consequences would be. And she knew before she even asked that Brittany didn't really understand what she was saying; she could see it in those blue eyes.
She took a minute, trying to think of how to simplify it before looking up at Brittany and speaking again. "I wanna be with you. But I'm afraid of the talks and the looks. I mean, you know what happened to Kurt at this school." Brittany's response almost made her want to laugh, but instead, she found herself looking down at her feet, her voice choked.
"Yeah, I know. But...I'm so afraid of what everyone will say behind my back. Still, I have to accept that..." She gave the blonde a little shrug and regained some of her composure. "I love you. I love you. And I don't wanna be with Sam or Finn or any of those other guys. I just want you."
She took a deep breath, looking into Brittany's eyes. "Please say you love me back. Please." And there it was. It was all out there, and all she could do was wait for a response and hope she didn't die in the meantime.
