Quinn liked being on top of the social ladder and thanks to Sam and her reinstatement of Head Cheerio, she was back where she belonged. She was quite happy with their arrangement and through their mutual desire to become McKinley's new 'It Couple', they'd actually formed a friendship. She enjoyed spending time with Sam, he was a little dorky, sure, but he was really cute and of course, they had a similar agenda. It really was a perfect arrangement. And no one even knew. To everyone else, they were the perfect, golden couple. Ken and Barbie. It worked perfectly for them both.
Currently, they were sitting in the Lima Bean, having hot chocolate. Quinn took a tentative sip from her mug and smiled over at Sam. "They really do. I'm not sure, I don't think I've ever tried it with regular milk." She lifted her shoulders in a shrug. "You're welcome to try mine if you want."
Sam looked from her to her mug and then back again with a shy smile. He had never actually shared a drink with a girl before and it seemed like some sort of leap in the right direction he was aiming for, or something along those lines. He shrugged and then gave a small laugh as he reached for her mug. "Okay," he agreed. The sip was tentative, though, and when he handed it back to her, the tip of his tongue swept over his lips. "You're right. It actually doesn't taste that different at all. I think my folks are just old school and believe in good old traditional milk for healthy bones or something

Quinn's cheeks flushed a little as Sam smiled at her like that before reaching for her hot chocolate. Their relationship might be all for show, but she was still a girl and she couldn't help but find him a little charming. Even endearing. Her hazel eyes were fixed on him as he took a drink and confirmed that it, in fact, didn't taste different. She had drank it with low fat milk for as long as she could remember. Before Coach Sylvester came along with her crazy dieting ideas, there was her mother. Judy Fabray was insistent on perfection. Russell Fabray was no better. Suffice to say, Quinn had lived under heavy expectations her entire life. Even something as small as milk being no exception. "No. That's how it should be. My parents are just..." Quinn rolled her eyes, taking another sip of her hot chocolate. "You get the point." She laughed a little, before following his eyes to see what it was he seemed so distracted with. Kurt, with the guy from his new school. She pressed her lips together, brow wrinkling in curiosity. Was Sam...

Sam nodded in understanding once he had turned back to her. He knew he was still relatively knew to the whole McKinley scene, but Quinn had filled him in on some of the gaps, especially as to her family values. "I do, and I'm sorry you had to grow up like that. I mean, it can't have been easy to need to continuously reach for the sky. It was probably tiring. In saying that, I think you're amazing. You might have made a mistake, but it hasn't broken you. You got up and kept going, and you're still amazing. But maybe now and again you should live in the fast lane and go for the full cream once in awhile? I promise, it doesn't hurt," he teased quietly.
But his hands came to grip around his own mug and he chewed on the inside of his lip. "Yeah... just... haven't really seen Kurt in awhile. I didn't realise he was dating," he said, trying to sound indifferent.
A soft blush crept across Quinn's cheeks at Sam's compliment. She was, after all, a pretty old fashioned girl and when it came to a guy complimenting her, she loved it. "Maybe you're right." She said, playfully, biting her bottom lip before taking another sip of her cooling hot chocolate. "But, Coach Sylvester would freak if I gained any weight. And with just getting my spot back after everything, I don't want to do anything to jeopardize that." She shrugged. Everyone knew how hard Coach Sylvester was on her squad.
Her brow arched as Sam commented on Kurt. There was something there in his tone she couldn't quite place her finger on. Something that almost seemed like he was..."Oh my God..." Quinn said, her voice dropping quieter as her eyes widened. "Are you...jealous?" It would make sense if Sam were interested in Kurt. Sometimes, despite his earlier denials, she still wondered if he really was gay. But he couldn't be, right?
Sam played with the lid of his cup, turning it over and over between his fingers as he listened to her mention the gruelling life of being one of Coach Sylvester's Cheerios. He knew how tough it was to keep a fitness schedule like that, and whilst he got a little mental about it sometimes, he couldn't deny he slipped off the wagon more often than not. "Well, if you ever get a chance to chill, you should take it. Just let it all hang out and enjoy life. Cheerios are important to you, and that's way cool. Sooner or later, you need to start thinking about Quinn first, though."
"No! he said, probably a little too quickly, and definitely too loudly. He prayed that he didn't start blushing, but his face heated up. "I-I just... I'm not... it's not what you think."
Quinn gave him a grateful smile. He was really sweet and not many people encouraged her to think about herself first. Sure, she usually did, but not the way he was implying. It was refreshing.
Taking another sip of her hot chocolate, Quinn studied Sam as he blurted out, rather quickly and loudly, that her assumptions about him being jealous were wrong. This made the blonde arch her brow in piqued curiosity. Something was definitely up with that. Especially as the blush crept across the boy's cheeks and he struggled to find words. "No?" Quinn asked, suddenly amused for some reason. "I haven't even said what it is I thought, so if it's not...that, then what is it?" Okay, now she was confusing herself even.
"I... I..." Sam began, floundering when he realised this must literally be what a deer caught in headlights felt like. His cheeks were burning now, and he kept his gaze pointedly averted away from Kurt and Blaine across the cafe, though he could hear Kurt laughing at something, probably a witty and smart joke from Blaine that Sam could never have a hope in hell of keeping up with.
He swallowed nervously as he struggled to maintain eye contact with her. "I... um..." he tried again hoarsely and cleared his throat before taking a large mouthful of his hot chocolate and then coughing when it went down the wrong way. He put it back down on the table before he spilt it like an idiot and then he finally managed to meet her enquiring gaze. "Sortofhaveacrushonkurt," he got out in a rushed mumble.
Quinn was utterly confused as Sam's cheeks grew even more red and he looked like he was terrified. Her brow arched in its usually manner and she watched with interest as he took a drink of his hot chocolate and promptly got choked. Her forehead creased with concern, but her gaze never left him. There was something going on here and Quinn wanted to know what it was. As the words came rushing out, her eyes widened. "Oh." She said, still thinking she hadn't heard him right. "So, wait...you are..." A quick glance around the vicinity, Quinn dropped her tone to a whisper as her eyes met Sam's again. "gay?"
Sam shook his head emphatically. "No!" he said, hushing his voice and leaning forward when it started to feel like everyone in the coffee shop could hear their conversation. "I-I mean, not really. I don't think so. I don't know. I like... both. I think. I've always wondered, but Kurt's the first guy I've ever... I dunno, looked at differently? But then seeing what he went through with Karofsky, you know? Who would want to purposefully put themselves in the line of fire like that? I can't believe I'm telling you this... I mean, I don't mean that in a bad way. I've just never told anyone before."
He paused and rubbed a hand over his face. "I like girls, and everything girls have to offer. Like woah... and now I sound like a creeper, which I'm not. But I just... think I might like guys too." He looked back over to Kurt and Blaine, now seated at one of the tables. "Or maybe it's just because he made me feel so welcome in Glee Club."
