Sam Evans hated the mall. It probably ranked in the Top Three of places that he hated the most. But it was now December, and he wasn't going to put off shopping until the day before like he did last week. This year was his new beginning for everything. New school, new friends, new house... new everything. And that meant no more forgetting the little things. Only certain things he was allowed to forget about, and he really wasn't going to go down that train of thought. Again. At all.
He entered the mall, resigned to a whole day of looking with no results. He'd probably get distracted by the bookstore and never make his way out of it. It wouldn't be a bad thing usually, but it would be so counterproductive on this date. He let his eyes wander pass the mass of bodies already crowding around him, and he hid a sigh.
