Tina nodded, thankful for Mr. Schuester's encouragement. She stood up and carefully made her way down, unable to notice any sounds beside the jingling of chains on her skirt. Was it really that quiet or was she imagining things? She confirmed that the accompanying musicians had the right sheet music before she finally faced the rest of the actual Glee club. She had her fingers laced together in front of her as she slowly spoke, trying not to stare at any one particular person for too long.

"So, um.....I...had a lot of trouble with this assignment. I think a lot of us d-did, but probably for different reasons." Tina paused, taking a deep breath. "A lot of you guys know exactly who you are and are proud of it." She looked at Kurt and Mercedes and smiled. She bit her lip and paused. "But I'm not." Her gaze ever so slightly went in Artie's direction, but she quickly refocused elsewhere. "I mean, I'd like to be, but I figured out it's really hard to try and define yourself in a song because they usually focus on one thing, and...well... people are more than just one thing, you know? I figured out recently that it's stupid to let one thing define you completely. L-let's face it, people are complicated." She laughed nervously, tucking back her hair. "So, that's what my song is about - being more than just one thing or one way that people see you."

She nodded at the guitarist, who kicked off the rock-like intro of the song. She loved the opening to the song - it opened up rough and heavy, then gave way to a softer upbeat tune. Tina's body instantly followed the rhythm of the music - very few were aware of how different she could be when she performed. It was a very empowering experience. Though she started off a little shy, by the chorus Tina was in full musical confidence mode.

"I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary

Even though Tina was really singing for herself, she wanted the others get something out of her performance, she told them to 'dig a little deeper' if they really thought they knew her - either as the goth freak or the stutter girl or whatever else, she wanted them to see she had more to offer. And if it helped them figure out stuff about themselves, then bonus.

"See me jump through hoops for you
You stand there watching me performing
What exactly do you do?
Have you ever thought it's you that's boring?
Who the hell are you?"

Tina sang as much of herself as she could into the song, barely even focusing on the crowd in front of her. Someday she wanted to sing like this on a stage and have people take her for what she was, even if she was still beginning to figure it out.

"...Average everyday sane psycho." The song came to a close, and Tina smiled. Even if no one else understood, right here and right now, was a rare moment she felt proud of herself.

Will watched Tina perform, a confidence he'd never seen before in her. He was seriously impressed, though he wasn't quite sure what she was saying with her song. "Well done, Tina," he said, clapping as he stood up to congratulate her. "That was pretty good."
