Well it's my birthday too yeah! I have got to not celebrate my birthday more often, this was one of the best birthdays I've ever had. Since I didn't expect anything, everything was that much better. I started out the day by realizing that I couldn't find my Ayurvedic medicine notes for my lecture, got to school and I found something else to replace them. Cool. On the way to school I picked up 18 cupcakes for all my students, plus me (forgot the candles though... I could have made three wishes, oh well). They loved the idea and I got to hear happy birthday more than 20 times throughout the day. Got a call from Papa early this morning and got to chat for a bit. Also got a call from Lukas, just to say happy birthday... he really is making an effort to keep our friendship going and doing a fine job I think. Sent off an ecard to Kelsey, since we have always shared a birthday. Kinda fun to know someone with the same birthday that lives almost half way around the globe. I received one from him this afternoon, cute dancing cat tossing flowers and stars and confetti about. Sounds like he had a great day planned with friends, a bonfire on the beach, and a nice dinner out.
(Did you notice the paragraph break ;)
When I got home from work, after 10 hours of talking and standing I was ready to collapse. Wishing I had saved one of those cupcakes for just such an occasion. Was putting something on the table and thought, I don't remember leaving anything on the table. So I turned on the light and I had five cards sitting there with a tulip plant and a piece of birthday cake complete with candle. All of which was from Johanna, Olivia and Dan next door. I just laughed and was so touched by their thoughtfulness. I half expected someone to jump out of the closet or something and say "Surprise!" But it was so much fun to open all the cards and sing happy birthday and blow out the candle. The cats had a blast with the little miniature balloon, I laughed so hard I started crying. I need a video camera. Then I could send everyone the so cute it's annoying videos of their antics.
Just when I thought I had had the best birthday I remembered I hadn't checked the mail. There was the package from Rose and the boys, must have been a record for delivery. What a fun package to open up. The boys made their own cards, a poem from Cody with some stickers and fun drawings. And Caleb used some stamps, stickers, and drawings to make his card, signing his name so well. And I'm still trying to figure out what this fun multicolored paint pictures are made with. It looks like liquid sand or something, very fun. Plus a nice tank top that I think is for working out, but looks nice enough to wear anywhere... once it warms up. While opening the present from them I was listening to a birthday greeting from Crysta. So felt like I had really been surrounded by family all day. (Mama and I chatted last night kinda late, so that was my birthday convo with her. And I thought of everyone else during the day to include you in the splediliousness.)
What a great day! And I didn't have to do anything! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Chocolate cupcakes with frosting and sprinkles on top! That was my day.
