...this guys story from a football forum I visit broke my heart. If it touches yours at all, there's a link to help at the end.
as some of you may be aware my son scott died on the 14th dec 06 aged 32 days after suffering a "near cot death attack"
my mrs was feeding scott in our bed on the 11th dec when scott took the attack julie thought he had fallen asleep whilst feeding but felt something wasnt right looked dowm realised that he had stopped breathing a nd had started bleeding from the nose she instantly called 999 where she was talked through cpr which she administered the paramedics arrived within 3 mins they took him from julie and rushed him to ARI where they got his heart going again saddly the damage was too severe
we were transfered to edinburgh sick kids where they did all they could for him but he was slowly fading awaywe got the last reall cuddle with him on the 12th it was the last time he opened his eyes we had no choice as in wether he would survive as the nurosurgeon said there was no more that could be done and prolonging the inevitable was in his words "torture" we were told it was just a matter of time he would either die on his own or we could give him the dignity he deserved which we did
maybe this is not the place to post this but the reason i do is that it is very rare that a baby suffers a cot death and even gets to the hospital scott truly was 1 in a million as he kept fighting right till the end we are so proud of scott he is my motivation and inspiration
there were no warning signs or symptoms to give any indication of what was to happen
cot death is the single biggest killer of babies and infants under 2
