Half empty glass: my personal situation. The block of flats being built right outside my study window. Overwork.
Half full glass: good relations with son and new girlfriend (who looks as if she might last a little longer than her predecessors). Students' warm responses to the first of my two guest lectures on Primo Levi. Going to a Bruce Springsteen concert on Tuesday night. Looking forward to going to Sicily.

I saw traffic, sky and clouds.
Now - cement and glass.
