Tale 1. Spent half a day in court interpreting for an elderly man convicted of breaking an intervention order and hitting and threatening his wife. He got off on a good behaviour bond becaus of his age. I kept cool throughout (not much choice, really) but raged inwardly. Also feared for his wife, since they still share a house. But his lawyer, the police and the magistrate obviously did not. Is there a moral anywhere?
Tale 2. Spent this morning interpreting for another elderly man at a doctor's lecture on COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases) and in the process acquired a lot of information on lung problems - useful for anyone planning to write a story (or even a few stories) about someone who has lung trouble because he's been stabbed in the back with a sword. Is there a moral anywhere?
