The Hypothetical Au Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I know, and give me a type of au (space opera au, pirate au, medieval au, Ancient Rome au, etc (please not a space opera au)). I will then explain what story from your chosen fandom I would write for your chosen type of au. More than one is highly encouraged to facilitate my boredom.

BtVS/AtS: medieval au.

Giles, the wise and kindly magician, learns of the prophecy that one girl has been Chosen to fight evil and whatnot. He finds Buffy, a noblewoman, and along with the help of her squire Xander and a witch from the nearby village (could that be Willow?), they fight evil but Willow gets burned at the stake for being not only a witch, but a gay witch. Xander falls in love with Anya, a traveling gypsy-type person who gets burned at the stake for being vocal about her hatred for all things male. And then Giles is burned for being a mage.
Angel = TOTALLY THE BLACK KNIGHT.
Lady Fred, Scholar Wesley, and Sir Gunn have Teh Epic Love Triangle Of Dooooom and Gunn gets burned at the stake for being a black guy who a) somehow got knighted and b) is having an affair with a white noblewoman. Ok, I admit it! I put historical accuracy above PCness. Just try to stop me.
Buffy's younger sister Dawn and Angel's illegitimate son Connor have a budding romance but everyone is bored. So Spike, a renegade hedge knight, kills them but not before Connor is burned at the stake for being illegitimate. Connor's mom, Lady Darla, swears a vendetta against Spike but gets burned at the stake for having a child out of wedlock.
Lilah and Lindsey are evil scheming mages who team up with The Mayor of London and his adopted daughter Faith to cause DOOM, but Faith has a Moral Crisis, and with the help of Sir Angel turns to the good side. Scholar Wesley has an evil affair with Lilah, but then Sir Angel kills her so Wesley must angst and return to the loving arms of Fred who is burned at the stake for sleeping with a black guy, but not before Wesley is burned at the stake for having sex out of wedlock. Angel and Lindsey have a duel, and Angel wins after cutting Lindsey's hand off. Everything ends happily because Lindsey gets burned at the stake for only having one hand and The Mayor is burned at the stake for having a lame haircut. Cordelia has a cameo as Angel's One True Love, but gets burned at the stake.
