OK, so as you may recall,
tjoel2 ,
endlessblush and I have had this dream project for a while. I think it might have started with one of those "if you won the lottery..." questions. Every once in a while I trot it out, when I'm feeling low or just need something fun to think of. I always add something to it, find new little quirks I want, or some new friend who can be part of the fun.
path124 is the latest one to join the plans and I promised her a TT about it. So here it is:
Overview: If we win the lottery,
tjoel2 and I will move to Australia and open a combo book/art/craft store with
endlessblush . We've agreed that we want it to be near both the ocean and mountains (like the West Coast of the U.S.) and we want it to be open to all and focused on ENJOYMENT - passion for LIFE, not just about profit. I would like it to be a very community-service oriented project - giving more and pulling together as much as possible - and of course, making use of all our fabulous talents and JOYS!
Here are 13 other pieces of this dream (some are as best I can recallt hem and some may be new)
1.
tjoel2 and
kiwwidane can have casual reading classes, for adults/kids - anyone who wants. Alternatively, they can do sewing/quilting classes, whichever they feel most strongly about!
2.
endlessblush and
path124 can plan/hostess parties - including children's parties, adult cooking parties, themes, feel better parties, etc.
3. I will conduct storytime - both for children (on site) and adults (either on site or in homes) - just reading out loud from every genre.
4.
jaq22 can give painting/drawing classes, both in studio and outside.
endlessblush could also do photography and/or childrens's craft hour. Anyone who wants to be a life model could be!
5.
had68 can give community health workshops or comedy workshops (take your pick, and make it a family venture, if you want! LOL!)
6.
den_lace can be our writing Muse, our Yogi and/or our Earth Mother
7.
willow_blossom and I will help keep both the business and dream afloat by being compassionately organised.
8. I would like there to be at least one event per quarter that is solely for a local needy organisation - whatever "cause" we choose.
9. I would like there to be at least one "purely" social gathering every month - open to all patrons and staff - a picnic or a day of games or something that doesn't revolve around a class or money or anything except meeting people who love our studio/bookstore
10. The bookstore portion of the place will look more like a comfy library in an old mansion. A fireplace or two, lots of sinfully deep couches and chairs, cushions on the floor even. Stacks and stacks and rows and rows and rooms and rooms of books in unexpected places - all waiting to be perused, held, cherished (and bought!). Refreshments served any time of day; open early, close late so that anyone who gets an urge can let their hands wander over the bindings.
11. There will be music! And dancing outside, and playing of insturments and clapping of hands, and no one shy about letting loose in that universal tongue; music
12. The architecture of the place will be "green" as well as pleasing to the eye - natural - blend it in with the landscape. Lots of light and natural materials, lots of renewable energy.
13. Everyone is welcome, and everyone is welcome to speak. No one gets shunned, treated like an outsider or judged. Any topic is welcome, any talent level is welcome, any question is welcome, so long as respect is shown to all points of view.
---Lew said she'd help with the business side of it too - I suppose we need more people to help with the business end of things, but after all, this only gets started if Tisha and I both win the lottery! LOL!
Anyone want to chime in? Amend, add?
EDIT: OH NO! I forgot Anastasia! SORRY, unintentional (stuck on you being in Borneo not Oz. LOL!)!
katzchen24 , you can team up with
kiwwidane and
tjoel2 for sewing/quilting projects or with
den_lace for gardening. Sound good?
