It's official,
West Ham United have been
confirmed as the new permanent tenants of London's
Olympic Stadium. But they aren't the first London football club to make an Olympic stadium their home. That distinction belongs to
Queens Park Rangers, who were twice-tenants of
White City Stadium, venue of the
1908 Summer Olympics. The venue for the
1948 Summer Olympics was the old
Wembley Stadium (then known as Empire Stadium), but it never became the permanent home of any sports club. Although Arsenal did
make a bid to buy it in March 1998.
